Tell us about the inspiration behind Spring 2019!
Mystika Jones: The theme for Spring 19 is renewal and refresh. It’s not about being an entirely new person, but more about refreshing your goals—a feeling of renewing parts of your life, whether it be trying new workouts, a new yoga practice or something as simple as a wardrobe update. Spring is great for that! We are always inspired by new workouts that complement an active lifestyle but are still grounded in yoga. We have a two-layer story that you can see throughout the line, which includes styles like the Trackie Bra and Gaze Layered Bra. They add dimension but also coverage in all the right places.
Sapna Von Sick: We were also inspired by starting fresh with both ballet and boxing details and a special twist on ultra-modern proportions and shapes.
The nudes collection is beautiful! How do you see it playing into people’s wardrobes?
MJ: It looks so beautiful all together as more of a monochromatic story, but then it also looks great with one of our two new super brights Flamingo or Sapphire. It’s all about personalizing.
Ballet-inspired details are at the forefront this season. What will people love about these pieces?
SV: These details really accentuate the feminine accents seen in every Alo collection. There are some beautiful transparent layered styles that help showcase this trend.
New color or color combo that you’re most excited about?
MJ: I’m excited about Lavender Cloud and Coco. They offer color but pair like neutrals. And I feel like they complement so many skin tones.
SV: Smoky Quartz styles paired with Coco and accents of Nectar is my absolute favorite way to wear our neutral nudes color story!
What are the key fabrics, details or treatments this season?
MJ: We have some really amazing new outerwear updates, like the Cool Breaker Jacket, which is made with memory woven fabric and has an adjustable bungee bottom, so you can customize coverage. So many people are walking, jogging and biking to their practice—we wanted to make sure they are covered!
SV: The styles in our shine fabrication will be a treat for your visual senses! The rich saturation of it is really special. Also, the graphic detailing on the High-Waist Trainer Legging makes it an absolute knockout.
What are the ultimate studio-to-street pieces in this collection?
MJ: The High-Waist Gaze Legging. Its higher waist and cool waistband detail look great under oversized sweatpants.
SV: The Layer-Up Tank is a great layering piece to wear to yoga and everywhere else. Also, the Pirouette Bra works well with the High-Waist Airbrush Legging from studio to street.
