Last week we launched 12 weeks of free videos that teach kids yoga and mindfulness through our nonprofit Alo Gives, and the outpouring of support has been truly incredible. A huge thank you to everyone who has shared their story on Instagram and spread the word about these videos. We're so grateful for you!
If you haven't shared yet, here's how it works: post a pic showing the age when you first did yoga written on your hand, use #alogives so we can all see it, tag teachers and parents you know, and inspire others to join by tagging 5 friends. Need inspo? See what everyone's posting here.
We want to lower the age that people are introduced to yoga and meditation. These practices can help kids quiet their minds, focus better, learn more easily, confront new challenges and find confidence in their abilities—crucial social and emotional learning skills for navigating an increasingly chaotic world. We've received countless messages over the years from people who say that yoga changed their life, so we thought, if we could share the lessons we've learned on the mat with kids, our future leaders, we can change their lives and, ultimately, change the world.
Just a refresher: the 12-week program, which we’re bringing to third through fifth graders, features a new theme each week, like Be Brave, and Be Creative, with daily 5-minute videos led by some of the most inspiring yogis in the world and an activity worksheet based on each theme. Kids can do them anywhere, anytime, in any order and however many times they like.
